OUR CERTFICATES AND COOPERATIONS

Anything but standard. That's why we not only promise quality, responsibility and sustainability, but we keep our promise as well. This is obvious from our many certificates, quality seals and voluntary commitments that go far beyond what the law requires.

Tested Workwear (Hohenstein)

The Hohenstein Quality Label Tested Workwear and Corporate Fashion is used to label workwear with particularly high demands of product safety and quality. In addition to the intention to protect the wearer from chemical residues in the product, comprehensive quality checks are performed on the product to guarantee long term durability.

Since 2017, we have been completely climate-neutral at our company headquarters in Schrozberg.

At the beginning of 2022, we became the first corporate wear supplier to make our entire HAKRO collection carbon neutral from head to toe.

CRADLE TO CRADLE (C2C) CERTIFIED®

The global "Cradle to Cradle Certified®" standard is awarded by the Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute (C2CPII), a non-profit organization that aims to promote the circular economy and ensure safe products. In the certification process, the institute reviews material and product properties in relation to five categories: Material Health, Material Cycle, Renewable Energy, Water Management, Social Responsibility. Since fall 2022, we have been using the label on all our models with 100% cotton from Bangladesh, thus adding another ecological profile to them.

GLOBAL RECYCLED STANDARD (GRS)

Der Global Recycled Standard ist der weltweit führende Standard für die Verarbeitung von recycelten Materialien. GRS definiert hohe umwelttechnische und soziale Anforderungen für die Weiterverarbeitung von Fasern entlang der gesamten textilen Lieferkette. Dazu zählen unter anderem auch die ILO-Kernarbeitsnormen einschließlich des Verbots von Kinderarbeit. Wir sind seit 2020 nach den Kriterien des GRS zertifiziert.

ISO 14001

The ISO 14001 standard defines globally recognised standards for environmental management systems. Certified according to ISO 14001, our HAKRO environmental management system fulfils the criteria for planning and setting environmental goals, their implementation, control and improvement.

GREEN BUTTON

Since 2020, we are selling products that have been certified with the Green Button. As the first government-run certification label for sustainable textiles, the Green Button has been reviewing companies and products using a comprehensive catalogue of sustainability criteria since the end of 2019 and acts as a meta-label. Our GOTS-certified Organic collection line bears the Green Button label.

FAIR WEAR FOUNDATION

Since 2021, HAKRO is a member of the Fair Wear Foundation. As an internationally recognised multi-stakeholder initiative, the Fair Wear Foundation reviews textile companies and the working conditions in production facilities in accordance with the Fair Wear Foundation Code of Labour Practices. In an annual Brand Performance Check, HAKRO is reviewed on the audits carried out and the measures derived from them to ensure social justice in production.

ALLIANCE FOR SUSTAINABLE TEXTILES

As a member of the Partnership for Sustainable Textiles, we have committed to actively work on and implement the overarching goals of the Partnership: to demonstrably improve the social, economic and ecological conditions along the entire supply chain of the textile and clothing sector.

UNITED NATIONS GLOBAL COMPACT

In 2009 we signed the "Global Compact of the United Nations", and in doing so joined the world's biggest alliance for responsible business practices. The Ten Principles of the Global Compact set the standards for compliance with human rights and the implementation of international working principles, care for the environment, the fight against child labour, and preventing corruption. Every year we report on what we have done to promote these Ten Principles.

ISO 9001

Our HAKRO quality management is certified according to the ISO 9001:2015 norm. ISO 9001 is the most important standard in quality management, both nationally and internationally. It provides the basis for our continuous internal improvement process.

THE FAMILY ENTREPRENEURS

Today, 90% of all companies in Germany are family companies. They are notable for their particularly strong social roots and responsibility. The association "Die Familienunternehmer" represents over 6,000 family-run companies on a political level. We have been a member since 2017, and we adhere to the "Governance Code for Family Companies" developed by the association.

OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100

As a member of the OEKO-TEX® community, we can confirm with our OEKO-TEX® certificate that all our textiles are certified according to OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 and therefore meet the respective applicable requirements of Annex XVII of the REACH regulation regarding more limited substances such as azo dyes or nickel.

GOTS (GLOBAL ORGANIC TEXTILE STANDARD)

GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) is the world's leading standard for processing textiles made from organically produced natural fibres. At a high level, GOTS determines environmental requirements along the entire textile production chain and at the same time, it defines social criteria, including all ILO core labour standards. Our two long-term and GOTS-certified production partners in Bangladesh and Turkey produce around 72% of our articles.

COTTON MADE IN AFRICA (CMIA)

We have been a partner of Cotton made in Africa since mid-2017. The initiative verifies cotton farmers according to strict sustainability criteria such as the prohibition of child labour, occupational safety and the limited use of pesticides. Moreover, CmiA also supports African cotton farmers and their families. We are part of the network of companies that demand CmiA labelled cotton and support agricultural training courses as well as social projects through license fees.

INTERNATIONAL ACCORD

The Accord on Fire and Building Safety in Bangladesh was founded after the collapse of the Rana Plaza textile factory in 2013. It aims at preventing such a tragedy from ever happening again. The agreement between trade unions and global textile companies ensures the assertion of effective fire protection measures and safety standards in Bangladesh. We support this important measure by signing the first Bangladesh Accord in 2015 and renewing the agreement in 2018.

DIVERSITY CHARTER

The aim of the company initiative "Diversity Charter" is to promote diversity in companies and to create a working environment that is free of prejudice. All staff should experience appreciation regardless of gender, nationality, ethnic origin, religion or world view, disability, age, sexual orientation and identity. We have signed the Diversity Charter and implement its requirements in line with our sustainability strategy.

SUCCESS FACTOR

Combining family and career is something that has always been particularly important to us. Which is why we belong to the network "Success Factor Family". The programme, which was initiated by the Federal Ministry of Family Affairs and the central associations of German industry and the DGB offers companies expert knowledge, ideas and exchanges. Family friendliness should be promoted in many different ways and become a trademark of German industry.

As a responsible employer, we want to do even more to promote the health of our staff. That is why we have committed to the principles of the "Luxembourg Declaration on the promotion of Health in the Workplace". It comprises the improvement of work organisation and working conditions and the promotion of active staff participation and the strengthening of personal skills.

THE PARIS PLEDGE FOR ACTION

The agreement of the Paris Pledge for Action was passed on 4 November 2016. All 150 participating countries committed for the first time to changing world industry in a climate-friendly manner . The pledge is a breakthrough in climate protection A short time later, companies also committed to the aims of the government organisations. By signing the "Paris Pledge for Action", we are committing to playing our part in reducing global warming.

MODEL HOHENLOHE

A number of companies in and around our site in Schrozberg have joined together to form the "Modell Hohenlohe e.V." The aim is to link and further develop sustainable management, environmental awareness and corporate responsibility in the Heilbronn-Franken region. The Model Hohenlohe creates synergies and offers support with the implementation of future-orientated solutions in business practice.

B.A.U.M.

The acronym B.A.U.M. stands for "Bundesdeutscher Arbeitskreis für Umweltbewusstes Management e.V.", the German Environmental Management Association. We belong to this association, which is the biggest corporate network for sustainable management in Europe. B.A.U.M. aims to support companies, communities and organisations with the ecologically effective, economically meaningful and socially fair realisation of sustainable measures.

WIN CHARTER

The "WIN Charter" aims to acknowledge sustainable management in Baden-Württemberg and make it visible to the public. It was established by the state government, and is aimed at companies for whom sustainability is an important factor in their corporate philosophy. By signing the WIN Charter, we have committed to its twelve guiding principles and goals of sustainable management.

ASSOCIATION OF GERMAN FOUNDATIONS

The Association of German Foundations is Europe's biggest and oldest association of foundations. It represents the interests of the more than 22,000 foundations in Germany. The Harry Kroll-Foundation, which was founded by HAKRO, is a member of this association. It supports projects involving children and young adults in the area around HAKRO and in the countries where our production partners are based.

GUIDING PRINCIPLES OF GOOD PRACTICE FOR FOUNDATIONS

The foundation work of the Harry Kroll-Foundation is implemented in accordance with the requirements of the non-profit and foundation law and the guiding principles of good practice for foundations. These guidelines, which have been laid down in 14 points by the Bundesverband Deutscher Stifter, have been accepted and are consistently implemented by the Harry Kroll-Foundation.
