Since 2021, HAKRO is a member of the Fair Wear Foundation. As an internationally recognised multi-stakeholder initiative, it reviews textile companies and their working conditions in production facilities in accordance with the Fair Wear Foundation Code of Labour Practices. In an annual Brand Performance Check, HAKRO is reviewed on the audits carried out and the measures derived from them to ensure social justice in production. The results of it are published on www.fairwear.org. HAKRO also reports annually on the progress made with HAKRO production partners.

The sign of "Textile trust" represents the OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100. This is an independent test and certification system for textile raw materials, intermediate and end products. The testing for harmful substances includes substances that are banned or regulated and substances that are known to be harmful to health. Every item of HAKRO clothing bears this quality sign.

Cotton made in Africa is an internationally recognised standard for sustainably produced cotton from Africa. CmiA supports African cotton farmers and their families, and promotes environmentally friendly cotton farming. By activating market forces, they are contributing significantly to economic independence. HAKRO is part of the network of companies that purchase Cotton made in Africa (CmiA) certified cotton and support agricultural training, environmentally-friendly growing methods, and social projects with their licences charges.
