ENVIRONMENT – WE CONSERVE NATURAL RESOURCES

We want to keep our environmental footprint as small as possible, both on our own premises and along the production chain of our textiles. We analyse our processes and strive for efficiency in order to reduce resources and energy requirements. We close materials cycles whenever we can.

WHAT WE HAVE ACHIEVED SO FAR

MOBILITY EMISSION REDUCED

As a start to the conversion of our fleet park, planned to be complete by 2022, we purchased the first electric vehicles in 2017. We record all the emissions that still occur and compensate for them with certificates. We support our staff with the leasing of e-bikes for travelling to and from work.

MOBILITY EMISSION REDUCED
100% GREEN ELECTRICITY MADE BY US

Since 2018, three photovoltaic systems on the roof of our logistics centre have been producing enough clean energy to cover the requirements at both of our sites in Schrozberg. When necessary, we buy eco-friendly hydroelectricity from the Stadtwerke Crailsheim.

100% GREEN ELECTRICITY MADE BY US
USING RESOURCES SPARINGLY

Thanks to our economic success, our requirement for textile fibres is increasing. However, we are trying to reduce resource requirements in other areas, for instance by omitting hang tags on new collections, reducing polybag wrappings and changing over to "Blue Angel" recycled copying paper.

USING RESOURCES SPARINGLY
CLIMATE-NEUTRAL SITE

By offsetting all greenhouse gas emissions at our Schrozberg site, we have achieved our goal of achieving climate neutrality by 2020 two years earlier than expected. Our corporate carbon footprint has been balanced annually by Climate Partner, and CO2 emissions that we are unable to reduce are offset.

CLIMATE-NEUTRAL SITE
EXTENSIVE CULTIVATION

Behind our logistics centre, we have had a wildflower meadow laid out over an area of 10,000 m2. It is a habitat for a growing number of flowers, grasses, insects and birds. The establishment of bee colonies is also planned for 2021.

EXTENSIVE CULTIVATION
GOODSHIPPING

The transport of HAKRO textiles from the production countries to our NOS warehouse in Schrozberg causes the most greenhouse gas emissions within our supply chain. To reduce these emissions, we are promoting the use of biofuels in sea freight with our first pilot project together with the initiative GoodShipping. Thereby, transport emissions for the route from Cambodia to Germany to our logistics centre have already been reduced by 100%.

Climate protection is a joint challenge, which is why we follow the requirements of Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development of the United Nations.

WHAT WE'RE STILL WORKING ON

FURTHER REDUCING MOBILITY EMISSIONS

We also want to reduce emissions in the area of mobility. This concerns both the conversion of our own fleet of vehicles to future-oriented mobility and the reduction of upstream transport emissions by 2022.

PAPERLESS WORK PROCESSES

Our work processes are to become even more paperless. We have already completely converted a first department, others are to follow. The majority of invoices are already sent electronically.

REMAIN CLIMATE-NEUTRAL

Climate neutrality is an ongoing goal. Where we cannot (yet) make savings, we want to continue to compensate. This also applies to our company travel and the daily journeys of our employees.
